How does it work?
The Cold Chain Data Interchange provides a single infrastructure that allows owners of cold chain data ("Data Owners") to receive this data from various providers of telemetry data ("Telemetry Providers") and control how this data is routed to authorized consumers of the data ("Telementry Consumers").
Telemetry Providers transmit cold chain equipment data to the Cold Chain Data Interchange. Each transmission includes an annotation that identifies the owner of the data. Data Owners login to the Data Interchange web administration portal to view details about this data and to configure how this data is forwarded to authorized Telemetry Consumers.
The Data Interchange supports the following data routing scenarios:
Data from one Telemetry Provider can be forwarded to one Telemetry Consumer (one-to-one);
Data from one Telemetry Provider can be forwarded to multiple Telemetry Consumers (one-to-many);
Data from multiple Telemetry Providers can be forwarded to a single Telemetry Consumer (many-to-one);
Data from multiple Telemetry Providers can be selectively forwarded to multiple Telemetry Consumers (many-to-many);
With just a few clicks, a Data Owner can start (or stop) forwarding data from a specific Telemetry Provider to a specific Data Consumer. Adding a new Telemetry Consumer is just as easy: the Data Owner can quickly grant a new Telemetry Consumer access to existing streams of cold chain telemetry data. In practice, this means that adding or changing reporting tools (i.e., Telemetry Consumers) does not require coordination with Telemetry Providers; the Data Owner simply updates the routing rules for those data, to forward it to the new reporting tool.
How do I get my Country’s data routing into the Data Interchange?
Two steps are necessary to get started:
- Contact New Horizons at datatools@nhgh.org to have an account added to the Data Interchange for your country.
- Send a request to your Telemetry Provider(s) to forward your data into the Data Interchange. You can link them to the Resources for Telemetry Providers page, where the interfaces for the Data Interchange are fully documented. The Data Interchange is built using industry standard data transport protocols, so it is straightforward for telemetry providers to forward your data from their servers into this system.
